The minister for Gozo/Malta Giovanna Debono visits the final BLES-Meeting |
|
On the 17th and 18th of September 2009 the last international partner meeting of the BLES-Project took place in Gozo/Malta. The partners discussed the results of the project and the further activities. In every partner country of the project the last workshops for the participants of the BLES-course the "Eco-Recycler" will happen in the last project week and afterwards the project will end. On the second day of the meeting the Minister for Gozo Mrs. Giovanna Debono visit the meeting and spoke to the project team. Mrs. Debono complimented the project team on their engagement and committment over the project time and accentuated the importance of the contents was transfered by the BLES course regarding the EU-policies, which are immensely relevant to achieve a sustainable way of life.

The last workshops regarding Unit V and VI were carried out |
|
The Eco-Recycler Learning Course draw to a close. The last presence workshops regarding Unit V and VI will be proceeded in October in all partner countries. A final examination in written form according to all Learning Units completes the Course. All participants passing the exam with success will gain an Certificate. International Partner Meeting |
|
The final international partner meeting will take place in Malta on 17. and 18. September. The meeting will be opened by the chief of the School of Arts and Craft of Gozo. On the second day the Minister of Gozo will attend the meeting. During the meeting the project partners will discuss the progress and results of the Bles-Eco-Recyler-Course and deliberate on the future co-operation regarding ongoing projects. |

Status Quo of the Project |

The Bles-Project approaches the end. Until today all planned contents for the Eco-Recycler-Course have been created. During the last two month of the project the partner will finish their translation, and prepare the workshops for Unit V. and VI. and the final examination. |

Prosperous Performance of the Workshops with regard to Unit III and IV |

The next presence workshops regarding Unit III and IV of the course "The Eco-Recycler - Treatment of Biodegradable Waste" were performed in Germany, Poland and Bulgaria. Opening of the workshop in Germany by Ralf Osinski (BEW) The restrictive workshops in the other partner countries will be hold during the next month. The aim of the workshops is to recess and discuss the contents according to Unit III: Legislation according to organic waste Unit IV: Logistics in case of organic waste The participants have during the workshops the possibility to benefit from the professional know how and experience from the trainer and to discuss face to face several topics. |

Prosperous Performance of the Workshops with regard to Unit I and II |

After online handling of the learning materials regarding Unit I and II of the course "The Eco-Recycler - Treatment of Biodegradable Waste", the first presence workshops were performed in Poland on 28.04.2009 and in Bulgaria on on 5.05.2008. Workshop in Poland  Workshop in Bulgaria
In Germany this workshops for Units I, II. and III will take place on 25. and 26. June 2009. The restrictive workshops in the other partner countries will be hold during the next days. The aim of the workshops is to recess and discuss the contents according to Unit I: Sources and quantities of organic waste Unit II: Composition and characteristics of organic waste The participants have during the workshops the possibility to benefit from the professional know how and experience from the trainer and to discuss face to face several topics. |

Successful opening of the BLES course |
|
On November
18th, 2008 the first presence workshop of the German BLES-course
took place. It was the opening of the course and gave an introduction of the
learning platform. Almost all participants could take part and were glad to be
informed about the whole project and the practice with the learning platform.
Also in the
partner countries Poland, Lithuania, Malta, Bulgaria and Latvia the first
presence workshops could already take place.

Status of the project – Halftime: What have we done until now? |

What is
realized until now? The project management set up an information and communication
platform for all partners in form of this homepage.
The single
partner countries produced country specific information about the treatment and
utilisation of biodegradable waste. Questions about the political objectives,
the legal situation, the current situation regarding volume, treatment and
utilisation of biodegradable waste, the recycling techniques and the
educational situation were examined. The project team also collected
information and materials about the topics: learning opportunities, learning
matters as well as available learning materials.

International Partner Meeting in Sofia, September 2008 |

The whole BLES project team met for the second time. This time the meeting was in Sofia. For the team a big conference hall in the hotel Jasmin was provided. All technical standards were prepossessed so that the introduction of the online learning platform “Moodle” could be realized easily.
The project management, Mr. Osinski, informed the partners about the present status of the project and the soon needed project tasks, like the preparation of the interim report or the organization of the workshops. Other topics were the needed translations of the learning contents and the acquisition of the participants.

Europe annually produces about 1.3 billion tons of waste. Large part of it - about 150 million tons – is of biological nature and therefore potentially biodegradable. The topic "Biodegradable Waste" affects two other current as well as urgent topics: the global climatic change and the energy supply. Until today world-wide most of the organic waste still is deposited in an unordered and untreated way. As consequence large quantities of the climate relevant gas methane develop. The potentials that lie in the field of biodegradable waste could in that context be used more efficiently for energy production in order to preserve other natural sources of energy.

Learning platform is ready to use |
|
The first Bles (Blended Learning Environmental Science) Course in the field of Biodegradable Waste was set up on the bew2learn.net-platform. This learning platform offers the right moodle-based virtual environment for proceeding the e-lerning parts of the blended learning arrangement. In the strict sense seven courses are ready to use. For each partner language one course was prepared. All courses will start in November 2008 with the obligatory introductional workshop in the restricted partner countries Bulgaria, Estonia, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Poland.
