Status of the project – Halftime: What have we done until now? PDF Print E-mail

What is realized until now? The project management set up an information and communication platform for all partners in form of this homepage.

The single partner countries produced country specific information about the treatment and utilisation of biodegradable waste. Questions about the political objectives, the legal situation, the current situation regarding volume, treatment and utilisation of biodegradable waste, the recycling techniques and the educational situation were examined. The project team also collected information and materials about the topics: learning opportunities, learning matters as well as available learning materials.

An important goal was reached in the last 12 month: the composition of the learning contents, which are fine structured into 6 units. Also, the curriculum for the open-distance-learning course is produced. The curriculum consists the basics and goals of the course as well as the definition of the learning group, the didactical structure, the topics of the course, the mentoring, the training elements and the evaluation. For each unit there is a learning plan, which defines the learning targets. So the first unit is already completed and the course has successfully started on 3rd of November 2008. The second and the third units are in its creation phase. The contents will be given for translation to the international partners end of 2008.

To publish the online parts of the blended learning course the project team uses the open-source platform “Moodle”. This platform offers a wide spectrum to display the learning aims and learning contents descriptively and let the participants easily work on this platform. It is online under http://moodle.bew2learn.net . The learning contents can be illustrated and used with different didactical background considerations. Different resources and activities like PowerPoint Presentations or tests with immediate feedback and much more addresses the different learning senses of each participant and therefore it supports the self studies on a PC. A concept for the development of multimedia learning materials for the web based parts of the BLES- course is used for the preparation of every single learning package.

To reach a high learning success of the participants a presence workshop to each online unit is organized, which will start with an introduction one about the Moodle platform this November. The one in Germany is on 18th of November 2008.
